Common questions

The questions we hear every week.

Short answers. If yours isn’t here, call 1-800-790-4873.

  • 01

Do I have to sign up at 65?

If you’re on Social Security, A and B start automatically. If you have group coverage from an employer of 20 or more, you can delay Part B. Everyone else, enroll on time.

  • 02

    Plan G or Advantage?

Plan G works with Original Medicare and any doctor who takes it. Advantage replaces Medicare with a private network plan, lower premium, copays and approvals.

  • 03

Is Plan G really the same from every company?

Yes. Benefits are set by federal law. Only the price, the rate history and the service differ.

  • 04

    What does Plan G cost?

At 65, typically about $130 to $220 a month depending on your state, ZIP code and the company. We price every company we represent.

  • 05

    What does your help cost?

Nothing. The insurance company pays us. Your premium is the same whether you use us or go direct.

  • 06

Plan G or Advantage, which should I pick?

If you want any doctor in the country and almost no bills, Plan G. If you want a low premium and extras like dental, and you’re fine with a network, Advantage. Ten minutes on the phone usually settles it.

  • 07

Do I need Part D if I take nothing?

We recommend it. The late penalty is permanent. The lowest-cost plans run well under $20 a month.

  • 08

    What’s the Part B penalty?

10% added to your premium for every 12 months you could have had Part B and didn’t, for life. Large employer coverage is the exception.

  • 09

Can I switch to a cheaper Plan G later?

Yes, any time. Outside your first six months most companies ask health questions. In reasonable health, switching to a lower premium is usually simple.

  • 10

Which companies do you work with?

Multiple A-rated carriers nationwide. You see every one we can quote, lowest to highest. The current list is on our Disclosures page.

Didn’t see yours?

Call, or send it through the contact page. A licensed agent answers, usually the same day.
